As always the dynamics of the daycare are changing… children come and go. At the moment I have two, two year olds who LOVE to climb! So, I decided I must get creative and I made a little corner where they can climb, it’s not high up off the ground, it’s nice and soft… AND I put a shelf where we can keep all our hard paged books for the little ones to look at.
I TOOK ONE OF THESE SHELVES…
AND MADE THIS!
THE SHELF WAS LAID FACE DOWN ON THE FLOOR, COVERED WITH A FOAM TOPPER AND THEN COVERED IN MATERIAL TO MAKE IT NICE AND SOFT. THEN I TUCKED IT BEHIND A COUCH TO MAKE IT A LITTLE NOOK.
I ALSO FOUND THESE GREAT CUT OUTS MADE FROM WOOD AT MICHAELS CRAFT STORE THEY WERE VERY CHEAP AROUND 3.00 A PIECE. I PAINTED THEM AND HUNG THE CHILDREN’S ART WORK IN THEM WHICH CAN BE CHANGED WHEN EVER WE HAVE NEW ART TO DISPLAY.
I THINK IT LOOKS GREAT! EVEN WITH ALL THE TOYS PEEKING OUT FROM UNDER THE COUCH 🙂
Lately I have been admiring all the dream catchers on pinterest. This morning I scrounged through the craft cupboard and found a few things that I could use to attempt to make one. As I sat there trying my best to weave the string one of the kids asked if I was making a spider web. I explained what I was making and the kids watched as I attached the feathers.
Then the kids gave it a try.
I cut out the center of some paper plates I had and punched holes around the edges. I also did a couple of strings for them just to get them started.
this was a great exercise in strengthening fine motor skills
Now that the warmer weather is here and we can see the sidewalks ( the snow is gone !! ) we decided to paint them up nice. I made side walk paint by mixing cornstarch, water, and food colouring.
the colours were nice and bright and when it dried it had such a neat texture!
We thought the tree would like so colour as well …
Have you ever read the children’s book Have you filled a bucket today? by Carol McCloud? This book is really great for helping children think about being kind to themselves and one another.
After reading the story we all decorated buckets and had fun making things to put in each others bucket.
Super easy and fun, the kids and I painted egg cartons then glued them to a wreath cut out of poster board.
We then glued a button into the center of each and made bright green leaves out fun foam and stuck them in the empty places.
super cute – super fun!
Very simple, much Fun!
Our favourite St Patty’s Day craft this year.
I taped three cylinder wooden blocks together, we then used it as a stamp. We also have one stamp with four blocks… We used that one only once.
It was for good luck 🙂
When it is too cold to go outside, we bring the outside in.
Here the kids are having fun using liquid tempra paint to paint the snow.
This year has been CRAZY cold!! But we are still having fun with a bit of creativity!
